Iron Mountain Trail

The Intemann Trail has existed, at least in part, for decades, but had a gap because of private property.  In 2010, the city of Manitou Springs purchased property that allowed connecting the two parts of the Intemann Trail.  In 2014, between contracted mechanical building of trail, paid for by Manitou Springs, Medicine Wheel Trail Advocates, and Friends of the Peak, and at least 7 volunteer projects with about 40 volunteers each, the Iron Mountain Trail was constructed.  Manitou Trail Cats coordinated the volunteer effort, and many organizations participated, including Rocky Mountain Field Institute and Friends of the Peak.  Friends of the Peak led one of the volunteer project days.
